HI, WELCOME TO MY STORY...

My name is Jackie Barutha and I was born and raised a midwestern girl in the city of Milwaukee in Wisconsin. From a young age, I always had an interest in patterns, design and fashion. My mom, Renee, always knew I would follow a future in art and design based on my ridiculous obsession with my extensive Barbie doll collection. I would take HOURS "preparing" Barbie for playtime... her outfit just had to be perfect before she could go meet Ken for a date. From a young age, my creativity flourished through many different outlets including painting, sculpture and design. I was lucky enough to attend Pius XI High School in Milwaukee where I took advantage of many art programs the school had to offer. I then received my Bachelors of Arts and Communications with a Journalism/Graphic Design emphasis from the University of Wisconsin- Whitewater in 2004.
After a lay off in the advertising industry, I decided to start my own freelance marketing division for a local area boutique and Milwaukee staple, Fred Boutique. It was at Fred where I started designing everyday hair accessories for the store. Gossip Girl accessories were all the rage but weren't offered in the midwest at an attainable price point. So insert ME! The community responded with extreme excitement and I soon found myself in 12 stores in the area. Not before long, I had valued customers asking me to make custom items for their wedding day. After the first birdcage veil was made, Miss Ruby Boutique came knocking at my door to design a little line for the bridal shop. Jaxie has now expanded into multiple stores and designs not only bridal hair accessories but a wide variety of vintage inspired glam including, bridal belts, bridesmaid belts, veils and headpieces.
I also offer customization options for those brides who just can't find what they are looking for. I can custom design and hand make a piece for you whether it is including scraps from a wedding dress that was passed down, repurposing a veil, to creating a hairpiece from
an heirloom brooch. The possibilities are endless!
Jaxie has been featured on Martha Stewart Weddings, Bridal Guide, Style Me Pretty, Hey Wedding Lady, Married in Milwaukee, Aisle Perfect, 100 Layer Cake, Southern Weddings and The Chicago Sun Times... just to name a few! I also recently won Best of 2021 - Accessories from Wisconsin Bride Magazine. I styled talk show host, Whitney Reynolds for her 2014 wedding and Life Coach Tiffany Louise for her 2019 ceremony. When I am not playing dress up with brides, I enjoy spending time being a kick ass auntie, traveling with friends or sipping a great tequila on the rocks with 3 limes, of course.
